Recycling/Repurposing/Re-Using, Oh My!!

So far the chickens of the farm have been safe from landing on the weekly menu, and will continue to be that way until I manage to go the next step.
You know the step I'm talking of.  That step.
But they earn their keep regardless, in a multitude of ways.
Eggs.  Manure.  Bug control.  Incubators...

And they are wonderful recyclers.

Which bring me to today's post.

I'm all for recycling/repurposing/re-using.  It's great for the land, the environment, the bank balance.
And I get a real kick from thinking outside the box and creating new from old.

My personal favourite of the moment is the wooden pallet.  There is no limit to what these little babies can be made into!

I discovered this fact a few months back, when on the spur of the moment I decided to rearrange the front verandah.

The designer of our mudbrick farmhouse really took into consideration the panoramic valley views and as a result the verandah is the perfect place for lazy summer meals. Or to flop with a great book on a balmy afternoon. Or  enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine and good friends : )

*sigh*

But I digress.  Back to recycling...

So after I had finished lugging carefully re-arranging the verandah furniture and creating new sitting nooks, I decided a low square table would work great surrounded by a few chairs, right outside the picture window.  Small problem- I didn't have a low square table.

Now, those who know me would probably describe me as
impatient
impulsive
a make-it-happen-kinda-gal
and after looking around the farm for something I could repurpose, I came up with this

Added casters for height

Of course, the peafowl think I made it just for them.....

Kevin doing what Kevin shouldn't but thinks he can anyways...

Ok, so what else can I use these fabulous pallets for?

Say bye to tripping over smelly farm shoes piled at the side door

Taking it inside....

Lovin' this

Yeah, baby, I was on a roll.
Organiser/ rack for the laundry?

In constant use!

Coffee table?  Why not?

Added legs saved from an old table and whala!

And just when I thought I was all pallet-ed out

Yesterdays hay rick

Don'tcha just love recycling?  I do!
What have you made from pallets recently?  I'd love to hear of your wonderful creations!
